Monotype has eaten Linotype. Quite remarkable. Probably quite indigestible too -- that must be why they waited until hot metal was good and done with. You don't want to end up with a gizzard-load of type metal and incompatible matrices.

Perhaps the company name should now be reduced to 'Notype', the common stem of its two components companies' names? Or perhaps not.
